WeWard user Michelle D'Souza shares how WeWard has impacted her walking habits, and more broadly her approach to tackling long-term goals.

This is the first installation of a new, ongoing series spotlighting our users, and the way that WeWard has impacted their daily lives.

Can you introduce yourself?

I’m Michelle D’Souza, based in Toronto, Canada. By day, I work as a Program Director, and by night (or early morning!), I write about growth and personal development on my Medium column. I love exploring what drives motivation, how habits form, and the small daily actions that lead to big results.

How did you first discover WeWard?

I first came across WeWard in May 2025 through a YouTube ad. The idea of earning rewards for walking immediately caught my attention. One of my friends is extremely active, so I figured if he could make a bit of extra money doing what he already loved, why not give it a try?

What started as curiosity quickly turned into something more meaningful, and I decided to also give it a try myself.

How did WeWard impact your daily life?

Before WeWard, I’d go for the occasional run but rarely walked—I honestly found walking a bit dull. That completely changed once I started using the app.

I’m naturally competitive, so tracking my activity turned it into a daily game against myself. Pretty soon, my motivation shifted from the financial rewards to the sense of achievement I felt hitting my goals each day. Now, walking is part of my routine—and one of my favorite ways to unwind after work.

Even more interesting is how this approach carried over into other parts of my life. WeWard helped me see the power of breaking big goals into small, consistent actions. When I started writing on Medium, I applied the same principle: post regularly, even if it’s just a short reflection. At work, I tackle large projects the same way—step by step.

WeWard didn’t just change my health habits—it transformed how I think about progress and consistency in everything I do.

What features do you enjoy the most?

The league system keeps me on my toes! I made it through every league within my first ten weeks and then challenged myself to finish first in each one. The top leagues are filled with seriously competitive walkers, which pushed me to grow beyond what I thought possible.

It’s not only about step counts anymore—it’s about strategy, balance, and persistence. I also love the streak feature—I’m currently at 164 days and counting! Both features make staying active incredibly rewarding and fun.

Who would you recommend WeWard to?

Honestly, anyone who wants to build better habits—whether that’s walking more, starting a creative project, or simply showing up for themselves.

WeWard helps you reframe progress. It turns effort into a game, challenges you to stay consistent, and reminds you that growth doesn’t have to be complicated. You start to see that if you can build one good habit—like walking—you can apply the same mindset to any other area of life.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Definitely! I’ve actually written about my WeWard journey on Medium. Each post reflects a lesson or breakthrough I’ve had along the way. I can’t recommend WeWard enough—it’s such a powerful tool for turning movement into motivation.
